  • Target Audience: Domestic creators, producers, songwriters, music labels, and industry professionals including nominees/winners of the Golden Indie Music Awards in previous years.
  • To ensure that participants have enough time and space for exchanges, the number of participants for this event is limited. Applicants will be notified of their acceptance by mid-October.

The guest speakers are independent music artists based in Taipei and Hong Kong respectively. They are highly recognized for their distinctive arranging skills. This time, the two will be invited to conduct an afternoon Arrangement Workshop at the well-equipped Sunset Studio. We welcome musicians, songwriters, producers, and music labels with basic knowledge/experience of arrangement to participate with demos. We hope that talents with similar styles can learn from each other and that talents with different styles can collide with each other to create new sparks. Through close and in-depth exchanges with overseas artists, we hope to broaden our horizons and create more opportunities for cooperation.

  • Screening mechanism: On the registration form, we will ask the applicants to answer some relevant questions. The instructors will read/listen to the works submitted and select applicants based on the submitted works and the answers.
    (1) Personal works: Arrangement demo will be submitted (finished or semi-finished works are acceptable).
    (2) Questions: Please provide questions about arrangement that you want to discuss with the instructors and the parts of your work that are stuck.
    (3) Instrument selection: How will you express yourself?
    (4) Experience: Have you ever been involved in music arrangement in your personal experience?
    (5) Expectations: What do you expect to share and what do you want to know besides arrangement?
  • Announcement time: To ensure that workshop participants have enough time and space for exchange, the number of participants is limited. After the registration, it is expected that the notice of admission will be notified in mid-October via email.

For music creators who have ambitions to break into the European and American markets, English lyric writing is one of the skills that needs to be honed and enhanced in order to bridge the language gap with the international market. In this workshop, The artist, a native English-speaking songwriter, will conduct an afternoon of English lyric writing workshop with the other guest speaker. We welcome Taiwanese musicians, songwriters, producers, and music labels who have this ambition and plan to participate in the workshop with their works. Through the workshop, we will guide musicians who are not familiar with English songs to practice and discuss their compositions and promote more opportunities for exchange.

  • Screening mechanism: An online registration form will be set up, and applicants will be asked to submit the following information for the instructors to review/listen to and select based on the submitted works and related answer content:
    (1) Personal works: Submission of lyrics / demos (finished or semi-finished works are acceptable).
    (2) Language use: Please let us know if English is your mother tongue.
    (3) Questions: Please provide questions about your English songwriting and the parts that you would like to discuss with the instructors, as well as any areas where your work is stuck.
    (4) Expectations: Please let us know your expectations for the direction of your sharing and any other content you would like to learn about in addition to English songwriting.
  • Announcement time: To ensure that workshop participants have enough time and space for exchange, the number of participants is limited. We will notify you by mid-October if you have been accepted after you register.

Kamaal Williams(UK)
photo:Kamaal Williams(UK) Kamaal Williams’ artistic practice is born out of an emergent multiplicity. Born in Peckham,London, and of Taiwanese descent, Kamaal has long been bridging worlds, spatially and culturally,geographically and sonically. Creator and founder of the London based Jazz duo, Yussef Kamaal, the album, Black Focus, reinstated a new wave of Jazz in the United Kingdom. In addition to live instrumentation, Kamaal Williams also releases electronic music under his given name Henry Wu.

Sonia Calico
photo:Sonia Calico Sonia Calico is a Taipei-based DJ/producer at the forefront of Taiwan’s dance music scene. Her sound is influenced by UK bass/club music fused with a variety of sonic elements including Mandopop, traditional Oriental ceremonial instrumentation and Japanese anime music.
Prior to breaking out as an electronic producer, Sonia led the acclaimed electro punk band, Go Chic, as their guitarist and beatmaker. She then went on to launch her music and events label, UnderU, and started hosting monthly “Beatmakers Taipei” workshops, which provided a community hub for local producers and DJs.
